Vegan Delicious Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe Dairy-Free.

These Banana Oatmeal Cookies are hands down the best banana flavored cookie I have ever had. Not only are they really are moist and chewy for days, they are unmistakably banana-y.

Banana can be one of those flavors that may get lost when you inhale with this. It can be really subtle taste. It always bums me out if that happens, because I really like the taste of banana. And so does the hubs.

So when great flavored banana treats come together, we go a little crazy for them.

These cookies make the list of banana items to go mad for. With no doubt.

And they are so moistthey almost melt in your mouth. In addition, using both oats and banana in them, they are basically healthy, right? And ideal for breakfast!

Creating them is equally as easy as eating them.

You start with mixing all those lovely ingredients together.

I must warn you. The smell of that mixture -- together with all the banana -- is equally intoxicating. The hubs was at the kitchen which makes the dough together with me (we left a deal that contained him carbonated with me) and we both had to work hard not to put our faces, or even a straw, straight into it.

Then you add all of the ingredients (which usually means you only use one bowl -- yay!) And mix it all together!

To bake themspoon about a tablespoon of bread and create a thick disc, rather than a ball. They spread a bit after baking, and therefore don't put them too close together. Bake them for about 10-12 minutes for a fine, moist cookiecutter. So yummy!

1 other thing I really like about this recipe is where it came out.

My grandma (my dad's mom) passed out in 2008. After I started baking a lot a few years ago, my uncle gave me cookbook that he'd had and didn't use. I have had it in my list to make several her desserts since.

It was a custom for my grandma to make them every Christmas! She also gave everyone a huge tin of them, which had been quite an effort with 6 sons.

I know precisely how much of a feat it was! My goodness. She made them using a conventional gaufrette iron which goes over a open fire. My father and I had them on the stove. They cook very fast and you have to be precise. Too long and they kind of disintegrated to iron. As long and they burnt to the iron and also we needed to wash it out.

My dad was pouring the batter and taking away the cookies, I had been working the ironthe hubs was timing things. It required a number of tries to get it right, but they were so excellent! I have tried to make them again on my own and it never works. I'd like to share the recipe, but the dang irons are all so hard to discover. And expensive. At some point, I would love to just earn a cookie with the exact same gaufrette taste.

For now though, I'm sharing these biscuits. I really don't think I had them when she made thembut they're from her novel.

It's such a fun recipe book to check through, too. There are so many handwritten pages, including clippings and newspaper recipes which were taped into the book. I really like the way that they used to compose recipes at the paper -- they had the man who submitted it is name and adorable little tales. It is so enjoyable to browse through them! What a different time in the world!

Anyways, I do not view really know where this recipe came from. The newspaper appears like it had been on a flier out of their square dance band or something (they were big to square dance ). It's undoubtedly from West Virginia, in which they lived.



Either way, I'm so glad to finally share a recipe from her novel with you! I made a few adjustments to make them thicker and puffier and they are delicious. There will be more to come out of her recipe book, but for now enjoy the banana.

Banana Oatmeal Cookies



Yield: 34-36 COOKIES


INGREDIENTS:



1 cup brown sugar, packed

1/2 cup sugar

1 egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract



1 1/2 cups all purpose flour

1 1/2 tsp cinnamon

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

2 tsp cornstarch



DIRECTIONS:

1. Mix together butter, brown sugar, sugar, egg, vanilla extract and mashed bananas until well combined.

3. Stir in oats.

4. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

5. Spoon tablespoons of dough onto a cookie sheet covered with parchment paper. Flatten dough just a little bit, into thick discs. They'll spread a bit when boiled.

7. Remove from oven and cool on cookie sheet for 3-4 minutes, then proceed into cooling rack to finish cooling.
